SCN BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Veronica Gamracy, Chair
Veronica holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Saskatchewan and a Master of Business Administration degree from McGill University. She has worked as an international private investment manager since 1995 for Merrill Lynch Canada, but also has a long held interest in the arts and entertainment industry. Veronica is a founding member of the Saskatchewan Motion Picture Association (SMPIA), director and former chair of the CTV Saskatchewan program development fund, and has served twice on the Board of Directors of SaskFilm, her most recent term as the Chair.
Glenda James
Glenda James has a diverse background in culture and community development. She wrote and published a national bestselling cookbook which grew into a local cable television cooking show and a regular spot on a southern Saskatchewan TV station that ran for five years. While living in Moose Jaw, Glenda served on the Moose Jaw city council, later working as a community developer and instructor at SIAST. Her volunteer experience is extensive; Glenda is a founder of Murals of Moose Jaw, Heritage Moose Jaw, and is currently sitting as vice-chairperson of the Saskatchewan Heritage Foundation.
Chris Lee
Chris Lee was born in Prince Albert , but moved to La Ronge in 1973 where he has called home ever since. Graduating with a degree in education, Chris has taught grades three to twelve , mainly in the visual arts area. He has also taught numerous visual art related workshops through Northlands College extension classes and for kids through drop-in centre classes. In his community, Chris has served as a volunteer Firefighter and a recreation board member. He has also volunteered at numerous community events including event planning. Chris joined the SCN board of directors in June, 2005.
Kelly Miner
Kelly has been working in Human Resources and Industrial Relations in the private sector for the past 13 years. Although currently employed by the provincial government, her experiences in the private sector bring a unique perspective to the Board. In addition to being an avid supporter of Saskatchewan's arts and cultural community, she has studied film and photography at the University of Regina, participated in group and individual shows and is a recipient of a Norman McKenzie - Neutral Ground Film and Video award. Kelly firmly believes that the opportunities for the people of Saskatchewan and indeed the western provinces, are greatly enhanced by the innovative and integral services and programming of SCN.
Devin O'Neal
Devin O'Neal is a former member of the Provincial Youth Advisory Committee. Having graduated high school with distinction from North Battleford Comprehensive High School in 2002, Devin went on to become a recipient of the Access Communications Scholarship for Excellence in the Arts in 2003. Devin lives in Saskatoon but still calls North Battleford home.
Patti Pacholek
Patti currently sits on the legal counsel with the Saskatchewan Finance Services Commission. In addition to her work as a lawyer, she is very involved with the community and sits on the board of the Canada Museum of Science and Technology Corporation as well as the MacKenzie Art Gallery . Her extensive volunteer work was formally recognized when she received the International Year of the Volunteer Recognition Award in 2001. Patti also speaks three languages; English, French and Ukrainian.
Raj Randhawa
Raj is the CEO of Horizon Computer Solutions in Saskatoon . Horizon employs thirty-nine people and enables its clients to accelerate and manage their growth with the use of business solutions through technology. Raj currently sits on the Microsoft Solutions Providers Canadian Advisory Council, and recently has been asked to sit on the IBM Ethnic Diversity Council. In addition to his running his own business, Raj is very active in his community. He has participated in the Big Brother inner city program and is currently serving as the President of the Park Terrace Condominium Board of Directors.
Patricia Roe
Patricia served as a City Councilor for the City of Saskatoon from 1994 to 2003. As city Councilor, Patricia provided leadership in many areas, and as part of a team was responsible for nine consecutive AAA tax ratings; the second lowest residential and utility taxes in Canada . She honed her leadership and speaking skills as Deputy Mayor and as chair to a number of boards and commissions including the Budget Committee, Planning and Operations, Special Needs Transportation, as well as many others. As well as serving her community through city council, Patricia has been involved in numerous community activities including the Jeux Canada Games, Canadian Special Olympics, and received the Governor General's 125 Medal for Service to her Community.
Gordon Tootoosis
Gordon Tootoosis was born on the Poundmaker Reserve, Saskatchewan. Gordon was raised with a strong Cree belief system, which he has used to become one of the most celebrated actors in Saskatchewan history. After having appeared in many theatre, television and film productions, Gordon spent five seasons on the hit show North of 60 as a series regular. While acting may be his current profession and passion, Gordon was also a social worker who specialized in areas of childcare and worked with young offenders. Gordon's experience in the film and television industry, as well as his work in the community will make him a welcomed addition to the SCN Board of Directors.
Wynne Young
Wynne Young was appointed as Deputy Minister of Tourism, Parks, Culture and Sport in June 2009. She has been with the Government of Saskatchewan for 25 years and has served as Deputy Minister in variety of other ministries including Advanced Education, Employment and Labour, Saskatchewan Learning, and Community Resources and Employment. She was also Chair of the Saskatchewan Public Service Commission from 1997 to 2004. Ms. Young is the National Vice-President of the Institute of Public Administration of Canada (IPAC) and Chair of the International Committee. She also serves as President of the Regina YMCA.
